Course Outcomes
Beyond providing a basic introduction to water resource management and sustainable development concepts, the objective of this course is to bridge the gap between textbook learning and real-time industry experience by taking students behind the scenes of the world’s leading clean energy and sustainability initiatives.
Global knowledge in water resource management
Gain a comprehensive understanding as well as a personal familiarity with the water resource management issues, techniques, and policies on both a local and global scale.
Economic & Environmental Impacts
Acquire a clear grasp of cost analyses and environmental impacts of water scarcity, implementation of hydroelectric energy production facilities and other relevant industries in a historical and modern day context.
Evaluate the feasibility of projects
Develop skills to evaluate resources and projects in terms of feasibility within the matrix of technical, economic, environmental, and political implementation.
International Policy Implementation
Observe Peru's water usage plans with policy implementation, natural resource legislation, and other legislative controls impacting the Peruvian communities.
Develop problem-solving skills
Advance, practice, and gain experience with problem-solving skills focused on the global Sustainable Development Goals, set forth by the United Nations. Develop self-awareness, leadership, and entrepreneurial skillsets.

Work alongside a local community to implement a sustainability-focused service learning project. Projects vary on a need-basis per program. Past service learning projects have varied from field work and surveys, painting a SDGs mural with an elementary school, clean up efforts to reduce plastic pollution, rebuilding greenhouses at a local school, and more.
